Additional Therapies

Electric Muscle Stimulation has been in use since the 1950s. It uses light electrical pulses to reduce inflammation, curtailing muscle spasms and relieving muscle pain. You may also feel a little heat during the treatment which improves circulation to the area and promotes tissue repair and healing.

Treatments usually last 5-8 minutes. During treatments small pads with a slightly sticky side are placed on the area. There are electrodes connected from the pads to the EMS unit which create the electrical vibrations. There are various levels of intensity, which can be adjusted as you need.

Therapeutic Ultrasound has been around since the 1940s. It is the use of sound waves to treat muscle spasms, strains and sprains. This treatment process increases blood flow, reduces stiffness and spasms, decreases pain and swelling and increases flexibility of tendons and joint.

Treatments usually last about 3-5 minutes. During treatments a gel is applied to the area to help the ultrasound wand to glide over the skin easily. The wand is slowly moved over the area and during the treatment you should feel no discomfort at all.
